Dolphin Cay at Atlantis

The Atlantis Resort and Marine Habitat on Paradise Island in the Bahamas is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. My family and I enjoyed a brief but exceptional visit to when our cruise stopped for a full day.  Atlantis boasts beautiful beaches, golf, restaurants, a casino, spa, water park and a spectacular marine habitat amongst others activities, so everyone can find to find a reason to visit.  If you go we suggest you be sure to take a tour- the guides and information are great and will help you make the most of your visit no matter the length of your stay. See my original post about Atlantis here.

In 2005 Atlantis rescued and offered a permanent home to 16 dolphins whose aquarium was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. This was an enormous undertaking and the logistics of finding and relocating the dolphins required a number of partners,  thoughtful planning, and custom-built resources to assist in the transport.  It’s uplifting to learn how people from all over the globe came together amongst the destruction of Katrina to care for the dolphins. It’s been 12 years since the relocation, and this short film from Atlantis recaps the story,  provides an update and will leave you with a smile.

Warning: You’re going to want to visit Atlantis!
